Phillip Rocke Grand Reserve - Creme De La Creme Salt

Creme De La Creme is the most involved liquid in Phillip Rocke's Grand Reserve line. It is a hazelnut cream carrying real Arabica coffee, and the coffee is not a bought-in flavouring but an extract the maker produced in-house for this blend, which is why it reads as brewed coffee rather than as coffee sweets.

The process is the reason to pay attention to it. The liquid is aged for around two and a half months in reclaimed medium brandy barrels before bottling. The point of that is subtraction rather than addition: the barrels absorb the sharp high notes that make a fresh hazelnut or coffee mix taste thin and chemical, leaving a rounder, softer profile behind. Steeping a bottle at home for a week does something similar but nowhere near as far. The result sits closer to a hazelnut latte than to a dessert, and it is one of the few coffee liquids that does not taste burnt on the exhale. All flavourings used are natural. The bottle is 30 ml and the nicotine is a salt at 40 mg, which is high even by pod standards. That strength is for low-power pod systems and tight mouth-to-lung devices only, never a sub-ohm tank, where the vapour volume would deliver far more nicotine per draw than intended.
