GM Handcrafted Coils - Fused Clapton Coils

Fused clapton is the most widely used of the complex coil types, and these are hand-built by GM in the medium size, two to a container, for rebuildable atomisers. A fused clapton takes two parallel core wires and wraps a much finer wire around both together. The fine outer wrap holds heat against the wick along the whole length of the coil, which is why fused claptons are usually the first step people take when they want more flavour than a simple round-wire build gives.

This build is 3.0mm inside diameter with 5 wraps, a 2x26g Kanthal core and a 38g Nichrome 80 outer wrap, reading around 0.22 ohms as a dual-coil build or 0.44 ohms as a single. It is a good general-purpose choice: less demanding on a battery than an alien of the same size, quicker to heat than heavier framed staples, and forgiving to wick because the gaps between wraps are even. Resistance varies by roughly 0.2 ohms depending on how long the legs are left, so measure before you fire it.
