Use that case, because it is the most important part of the purchase and the one people discard. A loose 18650 carried in a pocket with keys or coins can short across its terminals and vent, and that is the single most common cause of the battery incidents that get reported. Two further rules matter if you are running a dual-battery mod: buy the cells as a matched pair, use them as a pair and charge them together, and never mix an old cell with a new one or cells from different purchases, because the mod drains them in series and an imbalance stresses the weaker one. Inspect the plastic wrap before each use and stop using any cell whose wrap is torn or whose insulating ring is damaged, since a nicked wrap against a metal mod body is a direct short. Charge them in a dedicated external charger rather than leaving them unattended overnight.
