Uwell Caliburn GZ2 Pod System 850mAh

The Caliburn GZ2 is one of the simpler devices in Uwell's Caliburn range: an 850mAh battery, a maximum of 17W, draw activation with no buttons, and an aluminium-alloy body measuring 68.9 by 23.8 by 23.6mm. It uses Caliburn G2 pods with Caliburn G coils, holds 2ml and fills from the top.

Draw activation is the defining characteristic and the main reason to choose it. There is nothing to press and nothing to set — you inhale and it fires, which is the closest a vape gets to the mechanics of a cigarette and why devices of this kind suit people who have recently switched. The trade-off is that wattage is not adjustable, so the coil does the work instead. Supported resistances run from 0.8Ω to 1.0Ω, which is firmly mouth-to-lung territory and matched to nicotine salts rather than 3mg freebase liquid in a sub-ohm tank.

The practical details are the usual Caliburn ones, and they are why the range has lasted as long as it has. The pod attaches magnetically and the coil press-fits, so there is nothing to screw in or align. Filling is from the top, which keeps the device itself dry during a refill — the single most common cause of a pod kit becoming unpleasant to handle. The chassis is aluminium alloy rather than plastic, so it survives being carried loose in a pocket better than most pods this size, and at under 70mm tall it is genuinely small.
